In honor of Presidents Day the students will not have school February 20th. Read a good book about a president or talk with your students about your favorite president. Tell your students that George Washington was our first president in 1789. Talk to them about the important job our president has and then help them to make a campaign sign as if they were running for president.

"The purpose of the memorial is to communicate the founding, expansion, preservation, and unification of the United States with colossal statues of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt." ~Gutzon Borglum
Here are some useful tips for helping
students succeed with TCAP.
Ø Encourage your child to ask questions during class to ensure they are clearly understanding the material that is being taught.
Ø Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep. Their brain works best when it is well rested.
Ø Minimize stressful situations at home. Stress can cause as a distraction to the students concentration and interfere with their success.
Ø Remind your child to read the directions before testing.
Ø Make sure no answers are left blank. The percentage of a blank answer being correct is zero.
Ø When completing the writing portion of the TCAP or any test follow the directions. They look for capitals, punctuation and quality sentences.
